On the same hard disk, EaseUS easily found and recovered at least a dozen graphics files that Stellar didn't find at all. EaseUS got it back in perfect condition, while its rival Stellar Data Recovery reported that it had recovered the file, but instead brought back only a useless fragment of the BIN file. I got started by copying an audio CD to a BIN/CUE file combination for burning to a backup CD, and then deleting the files from my hard disk and emptying the recycle bin. ![]() A $99.90 Pro + WinPE version, which I didn't test, creates a bootable USB drive that you can use to recover files when you can't boot your system at all.ĮaseUS impressed me from the start in testing. If you want to recover more than 2GB, or if you want tech support from the vendor, upgrade EaseUS to the Pro version (which I tested) for $69.95. Rival service's Stellar's free version recovers 1GB. Pricing and PlansĮaseUS offers a completely free version that can rescue up to 2GB of data. If you use the EaseUS app with realistic expectations, it can recover files and folders that might otherwise be lost forever. It's far from perfect, partly because today's advanced disk technology makes data-recovery more difficult than it was with the simpler technology of the past, but it's fast and efficient, and it recovers files that we couldn't get back when using its chief rival, Stellar Data Recovery Premium. But some data-recovery apps are better than others, and EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard is the best we've seen. Best Hosted Endpoint Protection and Security SoftwareĮven the best data-recovery apps can leave you disappointed, because they sometimes lead you to think they can recover lost or deleted files that are in fact gone forever. Both versions come with a free trial, which I usually recommend people take advantage of when testing out a new piece of software. A single license is $89.95 and a Technician License is $299.00. If you find yourself needing to recover files, I would recommend this software because of it’s simple process. The app would not allow me to save it there and gave me other options for where to save the file. I attempted to save it directly to my Desktop, which was the same location where the file was previously stored. At this point, you will be shown a prompt that directs you to select the location where you would like the file saved. First, you check the box next to the file you want and then click ‘Recover Now’. I ended up selecting a random file and walking through the steps to recover it. In my case, I was simply testing out how quickly the scan worked and what the results might look like. The app gives you the option to search through the results and if you know what you are looking for, then this is quite a handy feature. When the scan was done, I had 8.01 GB of recovered data to sift through. In actuality, it only took about 25 minutes. ![]() At first, the scan was reporting that it might take close to 3 hours to complete. Once that was completed, the software started the scan. So, I had to go into my system preferences and allow the connection to the app first. I did have a momentary delay when my system security detected that the app didn’t come from a ‘trusted source’. After I installed the app, which was remarkably easy, I selected the drive I wanted scanned and slicked on ‘scan’. Using EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard really is as easy as documented on. You also have the ability to create a bootable USB drive and recover data from a macOS machine that is unable to boot up.
